Hoopcamp 2015! It’s almost time for our favorite event of the year! “We’re getting very excited,” said Hoopcamp Heather Troy, noting, “The nicer new location this year at Camp Campbell is already exceeding our expectations and camp hasn’t even started yet. They’ve done so much on the place since we were last there to see it, and we were already in love. They’ve even added new cabin buildings which is great for those that still haven’t registered because it means we still have limited cabin space available.” If you’re more of the glamping type there are a few spaces still available too and ticket sales come to a screeching halt at midnight on September 21st, one week prior to the camp kick off.
The largest annual gathering of the hoop dance community, now in it’s 8th year, Hoopcamp 2015 will once again see hoopers making their way from all over the world to Santa Cruz, California, USA, to share, connect, learn, and celebrate hooping as a transformational movement tool for creative self-expression. Fellow event producer Nessia Starr told us, “We’ll be making grilled cheese late night snacks and having evening campfires with s’mores every night this year too! The move to Camp Campbell is giving us a lot more freedom to really do some things we’ve always wanted to do. We’ve got some tricks up our sleeve this year too and I have no doubt it’s going to be the best Hoopcamp yet!”
One of the surprises we were able to get the scoop on is that Tropo is coming. If you missed their three live sets at Burning Man this year, don’t worry. They’re playing live for one of the Hoopcamp hoop jams this year! With layers of beats, soaring violin and vocal melodies, spectral pads, and crunchy bass oscillations, TROPO compels hoopers to dig deep within themselves for a reciprocal and energetic dance set, infusing the human element in their all original, uplifting, and completely live performance. Listen in and tell us you don’t want to hoop to “Light My Night” with hundreds of other hoopers. We’re smiling about it already!
With Hoop Intensives this year being taught by Tiana Zoumer, The Hoop Hooligans, Twisted Orbit, Rebecca Halls and Matt Porretta, and with hooping workshops taught by Hoopalicious, Philo Hagen, Babz Robinson, Stefan Pildes, GroovinMegzz, Caterina Suttin, Morgan Jenkins, Evan Davis, Ispopuppy, Lee Jeffries, Jennifer Dennehy, Maiki Nope, Bex Burton, Lauren Shaw and more, it’s no reason we love Hoopcamp so much. It’s like so much of what is hoopening all year long comes together offline all in one place. You’re guaranteed to learn some cool moves and make some new hooping friends too. Shopping at the amazing Hooping Marketplace, taking in what are sure to be some truly kickass performances including one by Hooping Idol 2015 Courtney Fagras, we can’t wait to see you at Hoopcamp 2015!
