Hoopie Awards 2016 Submissions
Hooping.org proudly presents our ninth annual Hoopie Awards honoring greatness in our world wide hooping community. Our 2016 Hoopie Awards are bigger than ever too with more awards categories than ever before! Your submissions for 2016 Hoopie Awards consideration are now being accepted and will be until 11:59 pm PST on Friday, January 15th, 2016. Please read all information carefully. Following required awards protocols ensures your Hoopie Awards 2016 Submissions will be considered.

PREVIOUS WINNERS: Previous Hoopie Award winners are not eligible to win within the same category twice, but feel free to nominate them for other award categories. You can review all previous Hoopie Award winners here.

IT ONLY TAKES ONE: Do not make appeals to get others to submit you or those you love for a Hoopie award. Why? All that is necessary for awards consideration in one single submission. Submitting more not only provides zero advantage, it clutters the system and slows the awards process. And yes, by all means feel free to include yourself if you think you’re deserving of community consideration in any of our award categories.

PRELIMINARY SCREENING: Once all Hoopie Awards 2016 submissions have been received hooping.org staff will lightly screen all photo, tutorial and video category submissions to decide if they warrant further consideration. Why? Every photo, tutorial and video requires time from each of our 2016 Hoopie Awards Review Panelists to review. Preliminary screening has become an essential part of our awards process to expedite and streamline the final nominations process.

2016 HOOPIE AWARDS REVIEW PANELISTS: Our 2016 Hoopie Awards panelists have the honor and privilege of deciding who receives final awards nominations. As in previous years, the panel consists of 50 randomly selected hoopers who have A) submitted something for awards consideration, and B) checked the “Yes” box regarding their availability to serve on the panel on the form below. In the interest of fairness these 50 panelists are randomly drawn from all who’ve made themselves available. Please do not contact anyone on staff about wanting to be on the review panel. There are no exceptions. Those who are randomly selected to serve will receive notification via email on Saturday, January 16th. By making yourself available to serve, you’re A) agreeing to maintain secrecy about your participation and all submitted content until the final nominees are announced, and B) you have free time over the next week and a half to review the Hoopie Awards 2016 submissions and make fair and informed voting decisions. Note: Nominating yourself for an award will not exclude you from being able to serve on the panel.

NEW AWARDS CATEGORIES: We’ve added several new award categories this year including the following:

Hoop Love Ambassador of the Year. This new award was brought about to inspire greater hoop love within our community by honoring someone who is doing just that.

Uncut Performance Videos. With the rise of smart phones and easy video editing software options has come concerns that simple start and stop hooping video performances are being overlooked. So this year we’ve added two new awards for unedited hooping performance videos, a solo award and another for videos featuring 2 or more hoopers. These videos may include introductory or closing edited footage, but the actual hooping performance itself, be it on stage or alone in your own backyard – must be uncut from start to finish.

Geographic Based Awards. As hooping continues to span the globe the time has come for increased global awards accessibility. Thus we’ve added new Hooper of the Year awards in each of hooping.org’s ongoing geographic categories. These include Africa, Asia, Australia/NZ, Canada, Europe (Excluding the UK), Mexico/Central America, South America, UK and USA. All nominees must be presently living in the geographic awards area they’ve been nominated for.

We Love Older Hoopers Too! Last year we realized that while it’s great to honor a Youth Hooper of the Year, we were remiss in honoring our older hoopers too. This year we’ve added two new awards, one for Over 40 Hooper of the Year and one for Senior Hooper of the Year to honor a hooper 65 years of age or older.

Seeing Doubles. With such dynamic double hooping happening this year we decided it was time to honor a Doubles Hooper of the Year. Double hoopers may include those using minis, twins or larger hoops of any size.
