October 30/30 Hooping Challenge
It’s October, or it will be soon enough, and while many of us in the Northern Hemisphere are falling into Autumn, and falling back into our old routines again, others of us in the Southern Hemisphere are stepping out from winter and catching Spring fever. In the north our big blue marble planet may be getting a little darker and colder, but that doesn’t mean we have to stop spinning up some fun and fitness. In fact, spinning extra doses of smiles and exercise into our lives become even more important now. Hooping is a joy creater that spits light and laughter into our lives and the perfect solution for warding off any additional pounds that are planning a seasonal visit. Meanwhile, in the south it’s time to get active and get that spring back in our step again. Our solution is a little thing we like to call the 30/30 Hooping Challenge, something that started right here on hooping.org, and we keep spinning a challenge up every October because we know it works. It’s the perfect seasonal solution all over the globe!
For those who may not be familiar with our 30/30 challenges, the basic premise is this: 1) Make a public declaration that you will be hooping for at least 30 minutes a day for 30 consecutive days during the month of October in the comments below. 2) Starting on October 1st, once you have completed your 30 minutes of hooping for that day, simply share a little about your hooping experience, as brief or as detailed as you wish, on our daily 30/30 challenge post. Why? So we can have accountability to one another, support each other along the way, and spin up some community with old and new hooping friends in the process. Each day a new announcement will go up on Hooping.org in the wee small hours of the morning (Pacific Standard Time) for you to share about your 30/30 Hooping Challenge check in experience. On October 1st we’ll have a Day 1 post, followed by Day 2 post on October 2nd, etc. The time zone may be off for your locale, but hoop with us anyway and make it work, and we not only invite you to take the challenge, we invite you to help us spread the word about it too. The more the merrier!
WILD CARD DAY: For those who start the challenge on October 1st, you will have a Wild Card Day during the month of October at your disposal should you need it. Don’t let a rough day at work or a cold take you down for the count. Simply check in that you’re turning in your Wild Card and keep right on hooping. Those who start on October 2nd, however, will not have a Wild Card Day to use, so just join us for the October 30/30 Hooping Challenge and we’ll spin it up daily between now and Halloween.
Our October 30/30 Hooping Challenge is indeed a challenge too, but I have faith that each and every one of you can make it happen. You know why? We can always accomplish things together that we can never do alone, so join in the fun with a friend where you live, a hooping pal online, or come solo and make some new hooping community friends along the way. Prioritize your hooping fun and fitness time daily. Got a smart phone? Set a daily alarm or calendar reminder to alert you that it’s time to hoop. We’ve also discovered over the years of doing this that for most of us it’s best not to put it off to be the last thing to do at the end of the day, even if you need to squeeze it into your in three 3-minute and 20 second segments. Whatever works to make it fit into your schedule.
What can you expect? For those who take the challenge you will quite likely find that your days will be happier and more energized. You may hit an energetic wall early on, but keep on hooping through it as almost everyone reports having a breakthrough. Don’t be surprised if you wind up losing some weight during the challenge too – I personally lost 12 pounds the first time I joined and completed the full 30/30. You can also take hooping from a a thing you wish you did more and spin it into a hooping habit, a daily practice. It only takes 21 days to create a new life habit, so by hooping on the daily for 30 days your hooping practice will arrive in your life. I’m really looking forward to creating happier and healthier hooping habits together this month too because I AM IN! I’m taking the challenge again and I’m excited to be doing it with you. Let’s do this!
INSTAGRAM PHOTO FUN: For the photographically inclined, and no pressure if you’re not, we also everyone to post pics and video clips on Instagram from their 30/30 hooping sessions using the #hoopingdotorg3030 hashtag. If you include our standard #hoopingdotorg hashtag too, you just might find yourself featured on the site this month along the way.
And to motivate you all even more, we’ve got another little prize incentive too. At the end of the challenge we will be doing a drawing and one lucky hooper selected from those who complete all 30 days will win a little something. Everyone who participates in the challenge is going to feel like a winner though – so let’s all be winners this October and hoop it on up!
To be eligible for the little prize drawing:
1) Post your intention to complete the October 30/30 Fun & Fitness Hooping Challenge in the comments below.
2) Hoop for a minimum of 30 minutes each day of the challenge.
3) Share about your experience on our corresponding challenge post of the day.
At the end of the month, all who completed the challenge will be entered into a random drawing and a winner will be selected. So, are you ready to rock October and spin more fun and fitness into your life? If so, welcome aboard. If you’re in, share your commitment to the challenge in the comments below. We can’t wait to hear about your experiences and transformations this month and we wish each and every one of you the very best of luck. Our October 30/30 Fun & Fitness Hooping Challenge is back and together, we can do it!
